We hit E.C. friday.
Tackle junkie had to go to the "Over 50 doctor" to get his "temperature" taken. So he didnt go with us.
Its all fish'in through a hole, so i guess he will have to report on his trip later.

As for ours, we got there about 7:30 am, windy, dark, and about 31 degrees.

Hit the ice, strarted looking for fish.

The wind just got worse and worse all day.

We had the shelters up, had to screw them to the ice to keep the 50+ MPH wind gusts from blowing them away.

After drilling about five sets of holes we finally found the fish.

The problem was, the wind got even worse.
I had my back to the corner of the shelter, the wind was pushing so hard on it, I just had to watch the fish go by on the finder while I wrestled the shelter.

Finally, I said screw it, took the shelter down, put my back to the wind and began slaying the fish. The stupid wind would blow my chair over every time I got out of it, blow my gloves across the ice every time I took them off, blow my sled away if I didnt turn it just right, but i was slaying the fish.

I ran over a couple times to the other shelter where the trouble maker was still wrestling with his shelter. Finally we tore down his shelter, and both of us were sitting in the wind, slaying the fish.

We caught the crap out of them for hours.

Constantly marking fish, after fish, after fish on the sonar, doubling up, and seeing fish go by on the graph while no one even had a lure in the water due to the unhooking going on on the ice.

Fast, fun fishing.

No time to put gloves on, ice cutr's tore to shreds from catching so many fish, it was crazy.

I snapped one quick pic between the catching, while I was taking it, I had fish all over my jig.

Next shelter I buy is going to be hurricane proof.
I have had the pop up style, the flip over clam style, and neither is good in the wind.
Even if you attach them to a snow mobile they can still pivot and slide. Especially when the wind changes direction.

But sitting in the wind was worth it. That was the best numbers trip I had through the ice this year. Too many to count.

Didnt matter what color we used. The cutr's in predator, chartreuse holographic, or solid chartreuse all caught fish. I was gonna throw on an orange but just never did.

The fish were all over those things. I didnt even use bait. No wax worm, meal worm, or crawler. Didnt need them. As soon as a fish came on, it was up on my jig.

80 percent of the fish were suspended, and agressive. the rest were on the bottom.

Lost one real nice fish at the hole when it got tangled up in the sonar transducer.

By the reports we heard from other anglers, the fishing was slow. But, most guys were huddled in groups away from thier poles, hiding from the wind. The wind kept everyone from moving around and finding fish.
I had to drag myself out of the shelter, pack it all up and move every time, but it paid off in the end.

We were in the taylor hollow area.

The water level is low so there is a good climb down to the ice, and be warned, the warmer weather we had last week and the water has softened up the edges. I got my boots wet getting on when I broke through.
About two feet out, the ice was great.

Let me know when you go. I will probably be going up myself soon. Probably will have a crew from work along too.

I need another work ice party.

Planning on going up with a big group from work on the 20th, hopefully we can find some fish, I've never ice fished EC before so it will be new for me. I was wondering if a guy can get a wheeler on it or is there too much slush. I know things can change alot in a weeks time.
